Free Ranging Chickens are often capable of ruining your gardens, leaving droppings on your porch, patio or deck, or dust bathing beneath trees until the roots are exposed and the trees/shrubs potentially die off.

There are actually many things you can do...  lay down wire mesh under trees.  Fence in your chickens (but that's not free range)...

Construct TALL fences around your gardens and places preserved only for people.

Or... put out a Haveahart Spray Away automatic sprinkler/deterrent system... at the end of your hose.

Chickens are accustomed to roaming in set patterns and visit feeding, resting and dusting sites with great and predictable regularity.  By placing an automatic sprinkler system, they quickly become aware that it's not the place to be and they seek other "digs".

We've tested it here and it works.  The sensitivity of the system is adjustable, it does sense even your sneaky chickens.  A few watering cycles and off they go...

Of course, you do have to allow your ranging birds some shade and forage areas, so simply select and protect the areas where you want to preserve your favorite plants, trees, shrubs or veggie gardens.

We found that the sprayers will work on bunnies, wood chucks and deer... who knew?!

Doesn't harm your birds or pets and protects plants while watering... now that's a near perfect solution!

FYI-  we do not represent and are not compensated by the Havahart company...  I purchased the system(s) to learn about them, just like everyone else...
